On Sunday Wayne received an award from Honour House on behalf of the City in recognition for the work done by the City staff to make the New Westminster Honour House possible.
How it came about
Honour House’s Allan De Genova was struggling with bureaucracy in Vancouver and was feeling despondent when his phone rang: “Have you found a home for Honour House?” asked Wayne.
“I am not really getting anywhere”, replied Allan.
“Son, look no further. New Westminster would be honoured to have it. We have a home for you,“ Wayne replied.
De Genova had his doubts because of the troubles he had experienced in Vancouver. But then New Westminster city staff cleared the way for Honour House within three days.
The rest is history.
